Debate

back in the day, russell and rutherford would hold debates with other religious leaders.

why has jehovah's witnesses stopped doing that?

i think it would be very interesting to see how they would hold up on a debate now.

The simple answer in a nut shell is that after 150 years of false prophesies all the bad information that they gave that changed over the years, all the new light that became old light that became new light again, they would look like total idiots!

but i believe in jehovah god, and i read the bible every day.. i believe the bible is god's word.

and i pray to god every day.. it's somewhat off topic.

but i'd like to find a friend who loves the bible and want to read and find the truth of the bible together with me.. i live in japan and i am a japanese.

Funny I've been looking for the same thing too. A single good looking girl in her twenties who would like to read the Bible with me while we are both naked. We could pray, read the bible, pray and read the Bible some more and then after a wonderful spirited Bible discussion we might even.....read the Bible some more....or maybe just pray together as we set there exploring each others thoughts about..... you know god.....

Anyway all this talk about Bible reading and praying together is getting me quite excited!

i called a jehovah's witness friend of mine a couple weeks ago, yes i still consider him a friend though he would not say the same of me.

i've known him for almost 40 years.

our families went on many vacations together including my only trip back to bethel in 1996. this trip was made with 40 other "brothers and sisters.

Yes I know they do DF for drunkenness, however with the tens of thousands of alcoholics in their organization it is a very RARE occurrence.Their loosey goosey attitude about this has been around since the days of Rutherford.

True that was the case with my father in law (an exjw whom we shunned for smoking) who was in a drunken stupor and blew his brains out.

One of the two people I feel "Blood guilty" for.

I called a Jehovah's Witness friend of mine a couple weeks ago, yes I still consider him a friend though he would not say the same of me. I've known him for almost 40 years. Our families went on many vacations together including my only trip back to Bethel in 1996. This trip was made with 40 other "brothers and sisters."

We texted back and forth for about a half an hour late one Saturday night. I could tell something was wrong so I finally picked the phone and called him.

He had been drinking and told me how much he loved me and that "he had never given up hope for me to come back." He finally said. "Your probably calling me because you heard that I had been dis-fellow-shipped a week ago!"

"No!" I said. "I had no idea!"

Yes,his wife had turned him in for drunkenness and had left him. I tried to console him but he would not have it. Though he loved me, he could think of me only as the devil's disciple trying to steal what was left of his soul!

He was in the only real Hell there is. The Hell the Jehovah's Witness world had created for him. The Hell of being cast out of god's loving organization. Though "out" he was more "in" than ever. To lose everything he had was more than he could bare!

Hell for sure. Who know how many suicides have resulted from people living in this kind of made up Hell?

PS In the 50 years I was a JW he is the first and only person I have ever heard of getting dis-fellow-shipped for drinking too much. Because we all know here that is one area they cut people a lot of slack!

i was an active member of this forum many years ago and it played an integral part of my awakening and making peace with my decision to leave.

it’s been a while since i posted here.

Because of the Nazis style religion we were in, I love the line in the movie The Good German.

"You can never really leave Berlin!"

Sadly for most of us here whether you leave the organization or not (because of our friends and family) it is a life sentence.

he sent me this note after i talked to him on the phone and sent him my book.. "the super-abundant blessings i have received in the advancing the earthly organization of jehovah have been fantastic !!!".
